The warm weather tempted me out again to Stubbington Down. This time, I climbed to the top (it’s very steep) and made my way round to the left so that I had a rather different view of Cannon Heath Down. The painting’s name, White Hill, refers to  the name of the pass between Stubbington and Cannon Heath Downs.

Both of the hollows (The Warren and Combe Hole) on the side of the down were visible from this vantage, as were the fields and the gallops on the flat top of the hill.
